“Photographing the beauty I find in all circumstances as the sun rises and sets beyond the horizon"

From the moment I received my first camera at the age of twelve, photography has been my passport to venture beyond familiar and comfortable boundaries. On weekends, as a teenager, I would often cross the bridge from Laredo, Texas, where I grew up, to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to photograph street life in our sister city. Moving easily from one country to another made me highly attuned to the richness and complexity that comes from the varied circumstances and rhythms of life.

With the help of my camera, I’ve noticed that even when people seem to be most alone in this world, they somehow fit into their surroundings in interesting ways that they themselves may not be aware of. Through my photography, I hope to show viewers that even in moments of solitude, we are all part of a larger, shared natural landscape.

While I am mostly self taught, I have had the privilege to expand my photographic horizons under Magnum photographer Alex Webb  & Rebecca Norris Webb, Joe Baraban and Daniel Kramer respectively. I have also been honored to share my work in a variety of prestigious juried shows from the Houston Center for Photography's annual exhibit, to The Big Show at the Lawndale art center in Houston, and as a featured artist at the historic event for Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County (ALMAAHH) in 2023 and Archway Gallery’s Fifteenth Annual Juried Exhibition.
